Graduates need to enjoy final weeks

I overheard someone the other day talking about how ready they were to graduate from high school in just a couple of weeks.
I remember thinking the same thing this time 10 years ago.
It's amazing how ready we are to move on to the next phase of our lives. We can't wait to get out of high school and move on to college.
Once in college, we can't wait to get out and get a job.
Once we get a job, it's real easy to look forward to retirement one day.
It seems that we are never satisfied.
But, if I could give any advice to the upcoming graduates, it would be to enjoy the next few weeks. Take it all in.
There are people you are with all the time now who you may not see again after graduation night. Some of you will go off to different colleges, others will join the military and many will go to the workforce.
You will find new interests and make new friends and everything will change. There are some things that seem so important now, that you won't even remember soon.
That's okay. The things you have done up to this point are all important, but so are the things you are about to do.
High school is a great time where you really develop into the kind of person that you will be. But, it comes to an end quickly and new challenges quickly pop up that you must face.
There will be tough choices that really can decide the future.
Choices about college, jobs, spouses, where to live, where to worship.
Those are some of the hard decisions that await. But now, is not that time.
Enjoy the weeks left with your friends, planning for the beach or whatever you are doing after graduation. The tough stuff can wait.
