Do your part and vote

The presidential primary for the state of Alabama is barely a week-and-a-half away and you would never guess it by the way national candidates have treated our state.
The decision to move Alabama's primary up four months, from June to February, seemed to be a logical move that would make our state a larger part of the nomination process. But, the move seems to have done little to attract candidates and their campaign dollars to the state.
As part of the new Super Tuesday primary day, Alabama now blends in with some 20 other states and offers far less delegates for candidates to seek.
Still, it is an obligation that we all have to go to the polls and cast our voteseven if Democratic and Republican presidential hopefuls have failed to come here and ask us for our votes.
We live in an era where many people feel their vote doesn't count so they skip the process entirely. But voting happens to be one of the greatest privileges that we have as Americans. On Feb. 5, do your part. Head to the polls and cast your vote. Let your voice be heard.
If Alabamians don't show up on Super Tuesday, it will only reinforce the idea that candidates have about our importance in the race.
