Herbert D. Ozbirn

Herbert D. Ozbirn, age 87, of Vina, died Wednesday, January 2, 2008 at his residence. He was born September 26, 1920 in Franklin County to Steve and Earl Taylor Ozbirn. He was a school bus driver for 50 years. He was preceded in death by his son, Ricky Ozbirn, grandson, Shane Ozbirn, and his parents.
Funeral services were held Friday, January 4, 2008 at Deaton Funeral Home in Red Bay with Bro. Jack Harder and Bro. Mike Franklin officiating the service. Burial was in the Atwood Cemetery.
Mr. Ozbirn is survived by his wife of 65 years, Margaret Ozbirn of Vina; sons, Billy Ozbirn (Barbara) of Tuscumbia; Johnny Ozbirn (Janet) &Timmy Ozbirn (Diane); all of Vina; grandchildren, Randy Ozbirn, Ricky Lee Ozbirn, Shannon Ozbirn, Alicia Ozbirn, Johnathon Ozbirn and Adam Ozbirn; great-grandchildren, Taylor Ozbirn, Tate Ozbirn, and Connor Ozbirn.
Pallbearers for the service included J.T. Miller, David Humphres, Lowell Ozbirn, Danny Covington, Bud Davidson, and Clifton Franklin.
Deaton Funeral Home of Red Bay assisted the family.
Lue Dickinson
January 3, 2008
Lue Velma Dickinson was born on September 29, 1914 and passed away on January 3, 2008 at the age of 93. She was a member of Lynn Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Flonnie Dodd; husband, Amon Dickinson; brothers, Wayne Theodore, Leon, James, Audress, R.C. and Odell; and sisters, Letha, Tommie Lou, Geneva and Mary Lois.
Funeral services were held Sunday, January 6, 2008 at the Pinkard Funeral Home in Haleyville with Bro. Tim Box officiating. Burial was in the Lynn Cemetery.
Ms. Dickinson is survived by her sons, Charles Dickinson and wife, Wanda, of Double Springs, Jimmy Dickinson and wife, Peggy, of Lynn, and Tony Dickinson and wife, Dean, of Lynn; brothers, Billy Dodd and wife, Mary, of Baton Rouge, La., Gaylon Dodd and wife, Charlotte, of Indianapolis, Ind., and Jimmy Dodd and wife, Annette, of Haleyville; sister, Betty Jo Brand; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Pinkard Funeral Home of Haleyville assisted the family.
Mary Louise Payne

Mary Louise Payne, age 77, of Red Bay, died Friday, January 4, 2008 at Red Bay Hospital. She born October 22, 1930 in Wynne, Ark. to George and Annie Jane Moore Warren. She was a sewing machine operator at Golden Manufacturing for 21 years, and was a member of Calvary Family Worship Center. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Robert Warren, T.H. Warren, Odis Warren, Harold Ray Warren, George Curtis Warren, Gerald Warren, and James Warren; sons, Leonard C. Payne and Bobby Gene Payne; daughter, Katrina Pendergraph; granddaughter, Carolyn Petree and grandson, Bryan Payne.
Funeral services were held Sunday, January 6, 2008 at Deaton Funeral Home in Red Bay with Bro. Marshall Green officiating the service. Burial was in the Red Bay City Cemetery.
Ms. Payne is survived by daughters, Patricia Holliman (Tommy) of Russellville, and Glenda Kiddy of Red Bay; sons, Fred Payne (Ann) and Randy Payne, all of Golden, Miss., special daughter-in-law, Dorothy Jean Payne of Red Bay; sister, Georgia Mae Davenport (Ray) of Long Beach, Miss.; 21 grandchildren, and 33 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers for the service included Richard Kiddy, Daryl Boyd, Billy Joe Payne, Bryant Wigginton, Kevin Pounds, and Kevin Willcutt.
Deaton Funeral Home of Red Bay assisted the family.
Helen Young
January 5, 2008
Helen "Annie" Young, age 71, of Tremont, Miss, died Saturday, January 5, 2008 at Darlington Oaks of Verona, Miss. She was born April 17, 1936 in Red Bay to Lee C. and Elsie Robertson Bohannon. She was a member of Kennedy Chapel and was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth C. Young on October 10, 2007; nephew, Tommy Fowler; and brothers-in-law, Leman Fowler and Wayne Gurley.
Funeral services were held Monday, January 7, 2008 at Deaton Funeral Home in Red Bay with Bro. Eddie McMillan officiating the service. Burial was at the Mt. Zion cemetery.
Ms. Young is survived by her son, Larry Young of Tremount, Miss; grandsons, Matthew Lee Young of Tremount, and Patrick D. Young of Burnsville, Miss; great-granddaughter, Aydin Starr Young; sisters, Jessica Fowler of Belmont, Bernice Gurley and Dean Terrell and husband, Jerry, all of Golden; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers for the service included Jerry Terrell, Wesley Hensley, W. R. Hensley, Chris Kostelansky and Larry Dale Young.
Deaton Funeral Home assisted the family.
Dellie Presley
January 6, 2008
Dellie Cummings Presley, age 88, of Russellville, died Saturday, January 6, 2008 at Burns Nursing Home in Russellville.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 8, 2008 at Spry Memorial Chapel with Bro. Nick McSpadden officiating the service. Burial was in the Knights of Pythias Cemetery.
The grandsons served as the pallbearers for the service.
Ms. Presley is survived by sons, Leroy Presley and wife, Carolyn, of Russellville, James Presley and wife, Betty, of Russellville, Larry Presley and wife, Lorraine, of Russellville, Louis Presley and wife, Sonja, of Grove Oak, Ala., Wayne Presley and wife, Norma, of Russellville, Mike Presley and wife, Jeanette, of Russellville; brothers, Charles E. Borden, Vern Cummings, Lois Bob Cummings, Jerry Cummings; sister, Margaret Lovett; 31 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Ms. Presley was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence L. Presley; sons, Johnny, Earnest, and Elvis Presley; parents Robert and Myrtle Zills Cummings; brother, Jack Cummings; sisters, Nellie Rogers and Dorothy Borden.

Ilene H. Ross

Ilene H. Ross, 89, Russellville, Alabama passed away Monday, January 7, 2008 at UAB Hospital in Birmingham.
She was a native of Franklin County and member of First Baptist Church in Russellville. She was a beautician and volunteer foster grandparent with the school program.
The funeral service will be Thursday, January 10, 2008, 2:00 P.M. at Pinkard Funeral Home, Russellville with Morris Barnett officiating. Burial will be in Knights of Pythias Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the service from noon until 2:00 P.M.
Survivors include daughters, Carole Fowler Jones, Norma Jeanette Harbin, Rosiland "Jo" Spencer, all of Russellville, Alabama; sister, Mary Frances Barnett Sockwell, Russellville, Alabama; brother, Kenneth Hellums, Littleville, Alabama; grandchildren, James Chris Spencer, Darrell Harbin, Kerry Harbin; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by husband, Benton O. Ross; grandson, Ricky Joe Fowler; sisters, Maverine Arnold, Vera Blunt, Eula McDonald; brother, J. T. Hellums.
Johnny O'Neal

Johnny Wayne O'Neal, age 53 of Phil Campbell, died Sunday, January 6, 2008 of natural causes. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Mary O'Neal; brother, Roy Lee O'Neal; sisters, Mary Ann O'Neal, Virginia Hill and Joan Parrish.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at 2 p.m. at the Akins Funeral Home in Russellville with visitation prior to the service beginning at 12 p.m. Bro. Curtis Taylor will officiate the service. Burial will be in the Franklin Memorial Gardens.
Mr. O'Neal is survived by his wife of 14 years, Debra O'Neal of Phil Campbell; daughters, Jan Marie O'Neal of Russellville, Meranda Cummings of Russellville, and Cassie Cummings of Russellville; sisters, Barbara Lindsey of Russellville, Tammy Uptain and husband, Joel, of Tharptown; brothers, Denver O'Neal and wife, Zonja, of Russellville, and Danny (Boomie) O'Neal of Spruce Pine; and grandchildren, Isabella Jose, Jacob Cummings, Elisea Batres.
Pallbearers for the service will include Greg Garrett, Todd Pinkard, Bradley Franks, Gilbert Donald Proctor, Lee Rollins Mike Smith and Joel Uptain.
Akins Funeral Home assisted the family.
