Belgreen boys advance to semis
FAYETTE – The Belgreen varsity boys beat Berry 76-60 Wednesday night to advance to the semifinals of the Fayette Lions Club Tournament.
Senior guard Shane Fretwell scored a game-high 27 points for the Bulldogs, while Spencer Hargett and Taylor Hester each scored 13.
Belgreen girls defeat Berry
FAYETTE – The Belgreen varsity girls improved to 11-4 this season with a 50-38 win over Berry in the opening round of the Fayette Lions Club Tournament Wednesday afternoon.
Martha Billingham led the Lady Bulldogs with 15 points, while Monica Smith had 11 and Deborah Billingham added 10.
Hatton beats Tharptown
SPEAKE – The Tharptown varsity girls lost to Hatton 76-34 in the opening round of the Speake Christmas Tournament Wednesday.
Hollie Hines led Tharptown with 11 points, while Kayla Burden had a game-high 15 points for Hatton.
UNA-Marriott Shoals Classic
December 29-30
FLORENCE – The University of North Alabama women's basketball program will host the Marriott Shoals Classic Dec. 29-30 at Flowers Hall.
UNA will play St. Leo Dec. 29 at 4 p.m. and Kentucky Wesleyan Dec. 30 at 4 p.m., and admission is free to both games.
Millenium Run
December 31
The annual Millenium Run 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run will be held Monday, December 31.
