Thomas Keith Gladney

Thomas Keith Gladney, 73, of Russellville passed away Monday, Nov. 26, at Huntsville Hospital.
Mr. Gladney lived his life in Franklin County and was a member of First Baptist Church of Muscle Shoals. He was a member of Believers in Christ Gospel Quartet and deacon of Calvary Baptist Church for approximately 25 years. He was a former City Clerk for the City of Russellville, former head of United Way, former member of Lions Club, Jaycees and very active in the community throughout his years.
He retired from U.S. Reduction with 25 years of service. He was presently a board member on the Water and Sewer Board for the City of Russellville and was owner and operator of North Alabama Striping.
Funeral services were held Nov. 29 at 11 a.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home with Jeff Noblit officiating. Burial will follow in Franklin Memory Gardens.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Hamilton Gladney, of Russellville; daughters, Marlaina (Gary) Steien, of Muscle Shoals, Missy (Chris) Hilderbrand, of Russellville; sister, Sara Bryant, of Russellville; brother, Byron (Sue) Gladney, of Russellville; half0sisters, Grace McCoy, of Centerville, Tenn., Marie Lyell, of Nashville; grandchildren, Laura Steien (Jason) Stockton, Leah Steien, Lindsay Steien, Josh (Amber) Lewey, Adam Hilderbrand; great-grandchildren, Taylor Stockton, Rylin Lewey; several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Doug Clement, Pat Seal, Joe Graham, Dick Tutich, Gene Ellison, Curtis Grissom and Evon Holden.
Honorary bearers were the Small Group Sunday School Class of the First Baptist Church of Muscle Shoals.
He was preceded in death by father, Benjamin Gladney; mother, Mildred Gladney; sister, Luvrene Truitt; half-brother, Reed Gladney.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Heart Association or the First Baptist Church of Muscle Shoals Mission Fund.
Joan Etta Cowan

Joan Etta Cowan, 69, of Russellville, died Nov. 26 at her home.
She was a native of Hamilton, Ohio but had lived in this area for the past 37 years. She was a member of Mt. Nebo Baptist Church. She was pianist for the Church, Quartet and vocalist. She also worked in many charitable organizations.
Funeral services will be held Nov. 30 at 11 a.m. at Pinkard Funeral Home in Russellville with Bro. James McCullar officiating. Burial will follow in Franklin Memory Gardens.
Survivors include husband, William H. Cowan, of Russellville; children, William Fred Cowan, of Hatton, Robert L. Cowan, of Russellville, James T. Cowan, of Mt. Hope, Rose E. Parker, of Hatton, Debra J. Hatfield, of Hatton; brothers, Hubert Hamblin, of North Carolina, Willis Hamblin, of Florida; sisters, Irene Reichert, of Russellville; Fran Davis, of Russellville, Bonnie Lynch, of Ohio; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and a multitude of family and friends.
Pallbearers are Bill Cowan, Richard Price, Christopher Cowan, Timothy Parker, Casey Smith and Michael Cowan.
Honorary bearers are Teo Clark, Donnie Young, Jamie Brown and Cody Fuller.
She is preceded in death by parents, Hezekiah Dutch and Edna Stout Hamblin; brothers, Emmett Hamblin, Leon Hamblin; sisters, Ora Hale, Mae Hale, Helen Politz and Imagene Hamblin; one grandchild and two great-grandchildren.
Lester Knight

Lester Knight, age 78, of Phil Campbell, died Wednesday, November 28, 2007. He was a member of Red Bay Freewill Baptist Church, and was a native of Haleyville.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 30, 2007 at Akins Funeral Home in Russellville at 2 p.m. with Bro. Mark Daniel and Bro. Ronnie Marbutt officiating.
Pallbearers for the service will include Rodney Knight, Jeremy Keeton, Mark Dill, David Rose, Randy McDaniel, Kevin Howard, Casey Beasley, Gary Raper, and Ted Marbutt.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lera Knight of Phil Campbell; sons, Roger Knight and wife, Linda, of Phil Campbell, Ronnie Marbutt and wife, Sandra, of Phil Campbell; daughter, Margaret Keeton, and Husband, Darryl, of Phil Campbell; grandchildren, Le Anne Knight, April Knight, Jeremy Keeton, Rodney Knight, and great-grandchildren, Olivia Knight, Justin Knight, Austin Knight and Lauren Keeton.
He is preceded in death by parents, Walter and Margie Knight; brothers, Winford Knight and Lonnie Knight; sister, Lula Tidwell, Millie Berry, Lois Lovett, and Letha Ferguson.
The family would like to give special thanks to Robin Pike, and the Good Samaritan Hospice. Also Amanda Bell and Denise Berry, Therese Palsinski for all they're help and support.
