The Lady Golden Tigers defeated Phil Campbell 39-23. Taylor Smith led RMS with 16 points, while Whitney Yocum had a team-high 10 points for the Lady Bobcats.
In eighth-grade boys action, Phil Campbell trailed by only two points near the end of the first quarter after Cameron Harris drilled a three-pointer to narrow the Golden Tigers' lead to 14-12. But RMS responded with a 12-4 run to lead 26-16 at halftime, and the Golden Tigers used a big second half to defeat the Bobcats 54-29.
RMS led by as many as 24 points in the second half thanks to a size advantage, more depth and defensive pressure by the Golden Tigers' guards.
Grant Hagedorn led RMS with 20 points, while Ben Stancil had a team-high 16 points for the Bobcats.
Phil Campbell will play in the Tharptown Tip-Off Tournament this week, while RMS will host Sheffield Thursday beginning ar 4 p.m.
