Nashville Star surprises crowd

Last season's Nashville Star winner Angela Hacker made a surprise appearance the Russellville Civitan Club's "Franklin County Sings" concert Saturday night.
While the concert drew in a smaller than expected crowd Saturday, those in attendance received a high quality show complete with an appearance by RHS graduate Angela Hacker.
Club Treasurer Pat Lane said almost 500 tickets were sold for the event and the club managed to bring in around $3,000 to go toward scholarships and other service projects offered by the club.
"Tonight is not all about the money," Lane said. "We wanted to showcase local, homegrown talent and I believe we achieved that goal."
He added that the event's timing played a big role in the attendance for the club – the Alabama/LSU game was in the fourth quarter when the show began – and considerations of other events will be made when planning next year's event.
Organizer Milton Sage said most everyone who attended enjoyed the entertainment, and that the club has a better feel of how the event should be planned in the future.
"When we started, we didn't know how things would go," Sage said. "We know what to do next time and what to avoid."
Sage added that the club will be working on another similar event for next year but no date has been scheduled.
"We have already started talking about next year's event, and I think as we have the concert more, it will draw a larger crowd," Sage said.
In addition to Angela, the show included the RHS Choir, Emma McDowell, the Red Bay FFA Quartet, Hannah Keller, Jacob Green, Kevin Adams, Danny Hacker, and Lisa Hacker and the band, Anything Goes.
"I think everyone performed wonderfully, and everything went so smoothly," club member Rebecca Green said. "It [ticket price] was a really good deal for the quality of entertainment presented."
