City ok's airport grant request

At a special called meeting held last night, the Russellville City Council began the process of making huge upgrades at the municipal airport.
Last night, the council voted to authorize Mayor Johnny Brown to execute a grant pre-application for a project that will replace the hangars at the airport.
The grant would request $218,025 from the Federal Aviation Administration, $5,738 from the Alabama Department of Transportation-Aeronautics and will require a local match of $5,738.
The council also authorized Police Chief Chris Hargett to purchase police equipment with the use of grant funds and a local match of slightly more than $2,000.
