THARPTOWN – The scoring output was smaller, but the result was the same Friday night as Tharptown downed the Parkway Christian Wildcats 32-8 after previously beating them 60-18 in Week 4.
Tharptown (6-2) built a 26-0 halftime advantage after Tyler Cagle found Brandon Cothom for a 30-yard reception and scored on a 2-yard quarterback keeper in the first quarter, and Daniel Scott found the end zone three times in the second quarter.
Scott had 198 all-purpose yards and threw a 21-yard touchdown pass to Joseph Parker, rushed for an 8-yard touchdown and returned an interception 21 yards for a score after getting key blocks from Jarrod Seay and Jacob Parker.
Cagle rumbled 48 yards for another Tharptown score with 5:21 to play in the third quarter that made the score 32-0.
Parkway Christian prevented the shutout when Justin Wallace scored from the 50-yard line for the final 32-8 score.
Defensively, Tharptown was led by Cagle, who had 10 tackles and a sack, and Trevor Hallmark, who recorded a sack and caused a fumble.
Tharptown finished the Friday night game with 14 first downs, and 370 yards of total offense.
Tharptown will host the Alabama School for Deaf Friday at 7 p.m.
