FCT launches new look website

The Franklin County Times is pleased to announce the launch of its newly redesigned website, fct.wpengine.com.
Times publisher Jason Cannon said the site, which went live Monday, is a better compliment to its sister publication that ever before.
"The new site is much more reader-friendly and interactive than the old design," Cannon said. "We wanted to take our website to the level of those you see in major metropolitan areas."
The new site allows readers to comment on stories or editorials and submit photos to the site itself.
"Readers can create a community snapshot folder on the site for the photos they've taken around the community," Cannon said. "Also, photographs taken by staff members here will be more accessible. On our previous site, we were limited to the number of photos that could be seen with each story. This new site allows us to create a slideshow containing multiple shots."
The new site also has an e-alert feature where readers can receive an email anytime breaking news is posted to the site.
"This feature allows us to get breaking news out there as fast as anyone in the businesses," Cannon said. "If something happens at noon, it should be in your email box less than five minutes later."
Aside from its more modern appeal, fct.wpengine.com also allows readers to fill out and submit wedding, anniversary and birthday forms on the site and submit that information electronically.
"Previously, you had to stop by our office and fill out a form the old fashioned way," Cannon said. "This was inconvenient for some, especially those who may work out of the area. Now, all you have to do is fill in the blanks and click submit."
The site will be updated with fresh content every day, even on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday – days which the Franklin County Times doesn't publish a paper edition.
"This website is the perfect compliment to our newspaper," Cannon added. "With the two, you get news and sports coverage virtually 24-hours per day and seven days per week."
