Shampoo shopping gets complex

One day last week I ran completely out of shampoo so I had to stop by the store on my way home. I only had to pick up a few things so I went to the shampoo isle as quick as possible.
I could see the colorful packaging line each shelf as I searched for regular shampoo with conditioner added. Yes, I hate to admit that I am now completely spoiled by the 2-in-1 shampoos that became very popular in the 1990s especially since my kids and I now use the same shampoo.
As I searched for a suitable brand, I quickly came to realize that the plain, old, regular 2-in-1 shampoos no longer exist. I guess the shampoo companies decided that they could make more money if they only sold shampoo and conditioner separately.
After I finally accepted the fact that there is no more 2-in-1s, I went from brand to brand searching for something that my whole family could use in order to be cost effective.
I found shampoo for blondes, brunettes, and red heads along with concoctions to make hair sleek, shiny, curly, and bouncy. There were even shampoos for the dry, oily or normal hair.
I found myself 'when did hair care get so complicated?' In the old days, you washed your hair with shampoo and applied conditioner based on your hair care needs. Then, the 2-in-1s made everything even simpler. Now hair care has been transformed into a huge money making industry with a different kind for every color, and every type imaginable. There is even color booster to keep your hair color longer. All of these products come with a healthy price tag attached.
If they really work, you guess is as good as mine. I just know that I spent over 30 minutes looking for shampoo and conditioner, and what I came back with was a headache.
