Russell fans 16 in PC win

Melissa Russell struck out 16 batters in a complete game two-hitter on Monday as Phil Campbell defeated Belgreen 11-1 in varsity softball action.
Whitney Smith led the Lady Bobcats at the plate, going 4-for-4 with four stolen bases and three runs scored. Carrie Fell finished 2-for-4 with a double, triple, three steals and two runs scored.
Shelly Cooper added two hits, including a home run, and scored twice. Chasity Morgan was also 2-for-4.
Phil Campbell led 1-0 before breaking the game open with five runs in the top of the third.

Melissa Russell struck out 11 and allowed only one hit in five innings on Saturday as Phil Campbell opened play in the NCIST Tournament at Belgreen with a win.
Chasity Morgan homered for the Lady Bobcats, who scored all six of their runs in the bottom of the first inning. Carrie Fell added a double.
Phil Campbell 6 Speake 5
The Lady Bobcats rallied for five runs in their final at bat to edge Speake on Saturday.
Tanna Benford was 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and an RBI, and Carrie Fell added a triple and two RBIs.
Melissa Russell was the winning pitcher, allowing five runs on three hits in four innings.
Phil Campbell 15 Phillips 0
Melissa Russell and Kim Clark combined on a no-hitter in Saturday's win.
Russell pitched the first two innings and struck out five before giving way to Clark, who struck out two over the final two innings.
Tanna Benford and Carrie Fell each went 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs scored and an RBI. Erica Halcomb and Chasity Morgan each added two hits and two RBIs, and Shaela Pace had a triple.
Colbert Heights 4 Phil Campbell 1
Melissa Russell took the loss on Saturday despite not allowing any hits and striking out five.
Russell issued six walks in three innings, and Colbert Heights scored two runs in the second and two more in the third.
Carrie Fell walked twice and stole a base for Phil Campbell.
Junior High
Phil Campbell 3 Belgreen 0
Kim Clark struck out eight in a five-inning no-hitter on Monday as Phil Campbell blanked Belgreen in junior high action.
The Lady Bobcats broke a scoreless tie with two runs in the top of the fourth.
Phil Campbell 17 Vina 0
Shaela Pace was 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs scored and two RBIs to lead Phil Campbell last Thursday.
Caitlin Stancil also had two hits, scoring two runs and driving in two.
Kim Clark struck out three in two hitless innings to earn the win.
Phil Campbell 4 Vina 2
The Lady Bobcats scored four runs in the bottom of the first and then held off a late Vina rally.
Kim Clark earned the win, striking out four and not allowing a hit in three scoreless innings. Memoree Young pitched the final two innings to earn the save. She struck out three and allowed two runs on two hits.
Ashley McAlister was 1-for-1 with two RBIs, and Erica Halcomb also had a hit.
Phil Campbell 13 East Franklin 2
Kim Clark struck out 12 in a complete game one-hitter to lead Phil Campbell.
Shaela Pace was 3-for-4 with a triple and four runs scored, and Clark went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs.
