The Phil Campbell City council heard a presentation from Pete Yonce of AlaTax at Tuesday night's regular meeting.
Following the report from Yonce, the council voted to renew the city's contract with AlaTax for the collection of sales tax.
The council also passed a motion to sign a new contract with AlaTax for the cross-examination of current business license data, sales tax data, property tax data and the telephone directory.
Phil Campbell will pay a fee of 50 percent of the revenue collected by AlaTax.
Also, the council voted to enter into a three-year contract allowing AlaTax to pursue new business licenses for the town of Phil Campbell.
The town will pay a fee of $5 per business license notice. The city council also voted to increase the business license issuance fee from $4 to $5 to increase revenue.
In other business, the council announced that Shoals Paving will pave a 187-foot stretch of Ballpark Road off Steele Drive for an additional $900.
Finally, the council approved the minutes from the previous meeting and voted to pay the bills due.
The next regularly scheduled meeting of the council will be Tuesday, March 15.
