Frances Marie Allen, age 63, of Spruce Pine, passed away Tuesday, February 15, 2005.
Mrs. Allen was preceded in death by her parents, Davey and Ruby Underwood Guthrie; and a brother, Wayne Guthrie.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, February 20, 2005, at Knights of Pythias Cemetery in Russellville with Bro. Ed Bragwell officiating.
Mrs. Allen is survived by her husband, Elex Jack Allen; a daughter, Sandra Eurich and husband David, of Spruce Pine; three sisters, Alice Reedy, Ann Raike and Bertha Pendergraph, all of Spruce Pine; three grandchildren, Andrew Richards, Kevin Eurich and Samantha Eurich; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Spry Memorial Chapel assisted the family.
Jean Phyllis Benson, age 74, of Red Bay, passed away Tuesday, February 15, 2005, at Helen Keller Hospital.
Mrs. Benson was born in New Hampshire and was a housewife and mother. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Red Bay. She was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Miller; three brothers; and her parents, Pete and Marion Sanderson.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 17, 2005, at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Larry Hill officiating.
Mrs. Benson is survived by her husband of 27 years, Bob Benson; five daughters, Pam Bland of Lakeland, Florida, Sharon Ruble and husband David, of Indiana, Sheila Hobson of Red Bay, Donna "Dede" Lord and husband Thomas, of Shannon, Georgia, and Amy Harper of Austin, Texas; a son, James Maurice Harper of Jackson; three step-sons, Robert G. Benson, Scott Ryan Benson and Brett Allen Benson; a step-daughter, Susan Denise Meredith; twenty-four grandchildren; and twenty-two great-grandchildren.
Deaton Funeral Home assisted the family.
Eulalia J. Montgomery Brown, age 92, of Red Bay, passed away Sunday, February 13, 2005, at North Ms. Medical Center in Tupelo.
Mrs. Brown was a native of Itawamba Co., Mississippi, and was formerly a dress shop owner and salesperson. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Lee Montgomery and Lois Brown.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, February 16, 2005, at First Baptist Church in Red Bay with Bro. Larry Hill and Bro. Jerry Swimmer officiating. Interment was in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were Steve Ratliff, Shane Montgomery, Lee Ratliff, Rodney Forrest, Champ Findley and Charles Montgomery. Honorary bearers were W.M. Thompson, Hoyt Turbyville and Tommy Montgomery.
Mrs. Brown is survived by a daughter, Betty Montgomery Faust of Red Bay; a son, Billy H. Montgomery of Tupelo; five grandchildren, Kathy F. Ratliff, Carole Montgomery, Mike Faust, Debbi Condif and Kim Findley; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Deaton Funeral Home assisted the family.
Arnie Mae Gattis Dulaney, age 86, of Ripley, Mississippi, passed away Monday, February 14, 2005, at Tippah County Hospital in Ripley.
Mrs. Dulaney was a native of Alabama and was a seamstress in clothing manufacturing for 30 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thellis Dulaney; a son, Milton Whitehead; and a grandson, Mark Whitehead.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 16, 2005, at Deaton Funeral Home in Red Bay with Bro. Edwin Pharr officiating. Interment was in Halltown Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Darrel Humphries, Don Humphries, Harold Wilson, Hoyt Humphries, Junior Ray Coats and Don Wilson.
Mrs. Dulaney is survived by three daughters, Gaynell Snow and husband Jerry, of Fulton, Mississippi, and Betty Walker and husband J.W., and Etta Jo Chamblee, both of Ripley; a daughter-in-law, Robbie Whitehead; five grandsons, Roger Snow and David Snow, both of Fulton, Terry Wood and Steve Wood, both of Springfield, Missouri, and Michael Whitehead of Boston; fourteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Deaton Funeral Home assisted the family.
Shirley Jane Hughes, age 83, of Russellville, passed away Wednesday, February 16, 2005, at her residence.
Mrs. Hughes was a native of Michigan but had lived here in Franklin County for the past seven years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Hughes.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Mrs. Hughes is survived by three sons, Richard Hughes and Thomas Hughes, both of Detroit, Michigan, and Gary Hughes of Russellville; a brother, Richard Anway of Florida; two sisters, Patricia Anway and Ruth Stales, both of Detroit, Michigan; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Pinkard Funeral Home assisted the family.
Rosie Bell Meadows, age 84, of Russellville, passed away Thursday, February 17, 2005, at Russellville Hospital.
Mrs. Meadows lived most of her life in Franklin County. She was preceded in death by her husband, Moody Meadows; and a daughter, Fannie Pearl Merritt.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 19, 2005, at Pleasant Hill #1 Baptist Church in Arley with Michael West officiating. Interment was in the adjoining cemetery.
Mrs. Meadows is survived by six children, Mary Ann Marshall of Dothan, Betty Jean Messer of Dothan, Edna Apin of Dothan, Sara Ergle of Russellville, Kenneth Merritt of Dothan, and James Meadows of Kentucky; two brothers, Joel Dunn of Lockhart and Alexander (Pete) Dunn of Dothan; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Pinkard Funeral Home assisted the family.
