Commission wants to fight litter

The Franklin County Commission is considering hiring a full-time employee to deal with littering in the county.
At their meeting Monday, commissioners said they want to examine the budget mid-year and see if money can be found to hire the employee.
Sheriff Larry Plott said at the meeting that his department currently has a person doing the job part-time.
Solid waste manager Phillip Wilson said he gets calls about the situation every day, but the problem is more than he can handle.
Probate Judge and commission chairman Mike Green said he supported the efforts to hire a litter control officer, if the money could be found to do so.
The commission voted to table the issue until they could examine the budget. Bradford said he hoped to bring the issue up for a vote at the April meeting.
