Big snake

Charles Whitlock of 6089 Valley Road holds a poisonous timber rattlesnake he killed in his yard Wednesday with a .410-gauge shotgun. The snake measured 591⁄2 inches long and 81⁄2 inches around and had 14 rattles and a button. Whitlock said he believes recent timber cutting in the vicinity of his property may have driven the snake from the woods.
