Meridian man found dead after blaze

The body of George Kappes, 62, of Meridian, was recovered in his home at 1013 Greenwald Drive, after a fire heavily damaged the house at about 9 p.m. Saturday.
Clayton Cobler, Lauderdale County coroner, said an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death. The Meridian Fire Department is investigating the cause of a fire.
