Retired fire tower attendant
MACON Services for Mary Elizabeth Simmons will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Butler Pentecostal Church with the Revs. Rayburn Druey and Gerald Butler officiating. Burial will be in Mashulaville Cemetery. Cockrell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Simmons, 87, of Mashulaville, died Sunday, March 14, 2004, at Care Center of Louisville.
Survivors include her four grandchildren; sisters, Louise Simmons of Macon and Lois Jasper of Oklahoma City; and a brother, Pearson Myers of Oklahoma City.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Nathan Warren Simmons; and a son, Frances Jewel Kirkland Sr.
Memorials may be made to Central Academy, P.O. Box 231, Macon, MS 39341.
Visitation will be today 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Services for Howard Chestine Snowden will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Fellowship Baptist Church with the Revs. Dr. Jimmy Williams and Wallace Terry officiating. Burial will be in Fellowship Cemetery. Stephens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Snowden, 90, of Meridian, died Saturday, March 13, 2004, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center. He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church for more than 77 years and the member with the longest duration of membership. He was a lifelong resident of the Center Hill Community and graduated from Center Hill High School in 1932. He was retired from the Mississippi Highway Department after more than 31 years as a maintenance worker.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Mabel Hopper Snowden of Meridian; a daughter, Peggy Snowden Mayatt and her husband, Bryant, of Hattiesburg; a son, Gerald Keith "Jerry" Snowden of Meridian; six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Franklin Snowden and Lottie Hudson Snowden; a brother, Mac Snowden; and a sister, Mary Helen Parker.
Pallbearers will be William David Sessums, Grady Joe Richardson, Billy Cook, Jeff Scarbrough, Butch Snowden, Doug Falkner, Kane Combs and Rayford Temple.
Visitation will be today 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home and Tuesday 30 minutes prior to the service at the church.

YORK, Ala. Graveside services for Felix F. Johnson Jr. will be held Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at Hennigan Cemetery in Epes with the Rev. Matt Kelley officiating. Bumpers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Johnson, 75, of Coatopa, died Sunday, March 14, 2004, at The Specialty Hospital of Meridian.
Survivors include his daughter, Sheila Hull of Coatopa; a brother, James H. Johnson of Greenville; and one granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Ellis Johnson.
Visitation will be Tuesday 1 p.m.-2 p.m. at the funeral home.
SEBASTOPOL Services for Jack Donald McConnell were held Sunday at 8 p.m. at Milling Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tim Fanguy officiating.
Mr. McConnell, 66, of Conehatta, died Saturday, March 13, 2004, in his home.
Survivors include his daughters, Angela "Angie" McConnell Young and her husband, Robby, Robin McConnell Wade and her husband, Mike and Dana McConnell Scott and her husband, Vince, all of Mobile, Ala.; four grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; his mother, Inez M. McConnell and a sister, Nan O'Neal, both of Sebastopol; brothers, Pat McConnell of Brooklyn and Jimmie McConnell of Sebastopol; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Arrangements were incomplete at Stephens Funeral Home for Eva R. Clark, 74, of Hugo, Okla., who died Sunday, March 14, 2004, at Riley Nursing Center in Meridian.
Arrangements were incomplete at Cockrell Funeral Home for Syble Alston, 77, of Macon, who died Sunday, March 14, 2004, at Baptist Memorial Golden Triangle Hospital in Columbus.
Arrangements were incomplete at James F. Webb Funeral Home for Mary Sladie Talbert, 99, of Bailey, who died Saturday, March 13, 2004 at Rush Foundation Hospital.
