East Oktibbeha 5
Noxapater pushed its record to 5-1 with a big home win over East Oktibbeha on Tuesday night. Joe Edwards (2-1) got the pitching win for Noxapater and also provided some punch at the plate.
Edwards led the offense with a home run and added a pair of singles. Dan Edwards added a homer and a double in the win.
Forest 15
Choctaw Central 2
The Bearcats collected 13 hits and used five errors by the Warriors to take the road win on Tuesday night. Wes Cox got the pitching win for Forest and Dustin Forsythe led the way at the plate for the Bearcats with three singles.
Austin Wilbanks added a double and a single for the winners, while Marcel Wash added two singles.
Northeast Jones 10
Wayne County 6
Northeast Jones scored five runs in the first inning to take the four-run win over the War Eagles on Tuesday evening. David Sims took the pitching win in relief of starter Justin Smith for Northeast Jones.
Stephen Page led the way with two singles and a double for the Tigers. Gordon Baygents led Wayne County with a three-run homer and a pair of doubles.
Morton 11
Newton County 1
The Cougars struggled at the plate with only six hits and five errors in the field in the run-rule loss to Morton on Tuesday. Newton County was led at the plate by Jared Cavenaugh with a double and single.
Cavenaugh also took the pitching loss for Newton County to drop his record to 2-1 for the season.
Louisville 12
Houston 11
Louisville (9-0) held off a late scoring surge by Houston in the fifth inning to take a one-run win on the road. Houston plated three runs in the fifth, but Louisville was able to hold on to shut down Houston in the final two innings.
Keith Edwards remained undefeated at 3-0 on the mound for Louisville and Ken Coleman led the offense with a double, and a single.
Brandon Dotson also added three singles in the big win for the Wildcats.
Newton County Academy 5
Winston Academy 2
Newton Academy took a great four-run win at home over Winston Academy on Tuesday night. Morgan Craven led the way for Newton with a single and double, while Brad Harrison also chipped in with a single and double.
Daniel Grimes went 2-for-2 with a single and double to round out the offense for the Generals. Newton improved to 5-1 for the season.
PREP SOFTBALL
Carthage 16
Choctaw Central 1
Carthage took advantage of 10 errors in the field by the Lady Warriors to cruise to the 15-run win.
Brittney Morris led the way at the plate for Carthage with with a triple and a single. Tori Crenshaw (1-4) only allowed one hit in three innings of work to take the pitching win. Ahniah Alex took the hard loss on the mound for the Lady Warriors.
Neshoba Central 6
New Hope 0
The Lady Rockets continue to cruise right along by improving their record to 5-1 with a shutout win over New Hope on Tuesday night.
Neshoba Central scored four late runs in the sixth that provided enough cushion for starting pitcher Kady Chandler to pick up the win.
Sarah Williamson led the way at the plate for the Lady Rockets with a pair of singles and two RBIs and Sondrenia Hillie also added two singles in the victory.
Philadelphia 11
Riverside 1
The Lady Tornadoes kept its winning ways with a 10-run win over Riverside on Tuesday night.
Dawn Rushing led the way with three singles and and Candice Griffen also had a great night at the plate for Philadelphia with two singles.
JUCO SOFTBALL
Pearl River 11, EMCC 1
Pearl River 4, EMCC 1
The Lady Lions took a pair of hard losses at the hands of Pearl River on Tuesday in Poplarville. Shay Jackson led East Mississippi at the plate in game one with three singles and Charley Speed took the pitching loss for the Lady Lions.
East Mississippi only had three base hits in the second game at take a fourth straight loss to Pearl River for the season.
