Five to compete for Miss Hospitality

Five young women will compete for the title of Meridian/Lauderdale County Miss Hospitality on Saturday at Merrehope. A reception and crowning will be at 11 a.m. and the public is invited to attend.
Contestants include:
Allison Claire Carroll. Carroll is a senior at Lamar High School and the daughter of Debbie Carroll and Mr. and Mrs. John Paul Carroll. Her high school honors include the National Honor Society and Who's Who Among American High School Students.
Carroll has been involved in community service through her church, Hope Village and LOVE's Kitchen. "I would like the opportunity to showcase Meridian and Lauderdale County to the rest of the state, and I will represent Meridian and Lauderdale County in a positive and enthusiastic manner," Carroll said.
Lauren Elizabeth Goodman. Goodman is a freshmen at Meridian Community College majoring in polymer science and is the daughter of Murphy and Beth Goodman. Goodman graduated from West Lauderdale High School in 2003.
As a senior at West Lauderdale, Goodman was ranked fifth in her class, listed on the superintendent's list, Who's Who Among American High School Students and received the National Science Merit Award.
Goodman is currently a member of MCC Variations and Chorus.
Heather Rose Goodwin. Goodwin is a freshmen at Meridian Community College majoring in broadcasting and is the daughter of Robert S. Goodwin.
Before attending MCC, Heather was homeschooled. At MCC, she has been listed on the dean's list. She is currently in the MCC Variations. She is a MCC cheerleader and a member of the Student Association of Broadcasters. Goodman was also selected to the 2004 homecoming court.
Danielle Rigdon. Rigdon is a junior at Mississippi College in Clinton.
She graduated high school from West Lauderdale in 2001 and Meridian Community College in 2002. Her major is English. She is the daughter of Daniel Rigdon and Dalette Newell.
At MCC she was a member of the Circle of Excellence and Who's Who Among American Junior Colleges.
Rigdon was elected Miss MCC in 2002, a member of the homecoming court in 2002 and 2003 and captain of the MCC cheerleaders. She is currently a member of Mississippi College Naturals, NT Social Tribe and MC Chorale.
Ashton Annice Tureaud. Tureaud is a senior at Meridian High School and the daughter of Edward and Synthia Tureaud.
Her high school scholastic achievements include 10th- and 11th-grade Academic Letter, the honor roll, the National Junior Honor Society and the National Honor Society.
She is the president of Catholic Youth Organization, a St. Joseph's Catholic Church lector and a St. Joseph's Eucharistic minister. She is captain of the MHS cheerleading squad, a peer mediator, the MHS Student Council treasurer and an Anchor Club member.
