The Grammy-nominated Crabb Family will make a stop in Meridian for a one-day-only concert at Meridian High School's auditorium.
The group will perform at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at the door or at Meridian's downtown Bible Bookstore.
The Crabb Family is nominated for a Grammy in the category of Best Southern, Country or Bluegrass Gospel Album. The 46th Annual Grammy Awards will be broadcast Feb. 8 from Los Angeles.
The group is nominated for the song "The Walk," which was released in April. The song spent 13 weeks in the No. 1 spot on Soundscan's Southern Gospel Chart.
The group also received two honors at 2003 Dove Awards one for Southern Gospel Recorded Song of the Year, "Don't You Wanna Go?" and the other for Southern Gospel Album of the Year, "A Crabb Collection."
The group was founded by Gerald Crabb and his wife, Kathy. Today, the family group is one of the biggest acts in Southern Gospel Music. Gerald and Kathy, who remain active behind the scenes, have turned most of the "on-stage" ministry of the Crabb Family over to their children.
The Crabb Family performers include Jason Crabb, the oldest Crabb son who is lead singer; Kelly Bowling, the middle Crabb daughter who sings; Adam Crabb, the family harmonica player and singer; and Aaron Crabb, Adam's twin brother who plays rhythm guitar and sings. The group is backed by a six-piece live band.
Mike Bowling, husband of Crabb Family member Kelly Bowling, will be the evening's special guest entertainer. Mike travels with the group as the pianist and is a featured soloist.
