Tornadoes take tourney victory

PHILADELPHIA The Philadelphia Tornadoes outscored Union in all four quarters Saturday to take a 66-41 win in the Philadelphia Christmas Holiday Classic.
The Tornadoes hit 10 three-point baskets, five of which came in the second quarter, as the hosts padded a 14-9 lead into a 33-18 halftime advantage.
Bobby Goodin hit four treys in leading the 9-3 Tornadoes with 18 points. John Williams hit three treys and finished with 10 points. Cordae Coleman sank a pair of three-pointers and finished with 10 points. Trey Beamon had 10 points.
Union, 2-8, got 22 points from Anthony Johnson.
West Lowndes (boys) 67
Choctaw Central 65
George Brewer knocked down a pair of free throws with 0.4 seconds left as the Panthers handed the Warriors their second loss of the season.
Choctaw Central, 12-2, trailed 55-45 with 5:25 remaining, but the Warriors battled back to draw even at 65 on a three-point basket from Joseph Martin, with 12 seconds remaining.
Choctaw Central scored the game's first nine points and led 15-9 after one quarter. The Warriors saw West Lowndes close to within 24-23 before taking a 28-23 lead into halftime.
West Lowndes used a 24-15 third quarter advantage to go up 47-43.
Will Gray scored 23 points to lead West Lowndes, 4-5. Gray had 14 points in the third quarter with nine coming from three-point range. The Panthers also got 13 points from Roshad Thompson, 10 from Brewer, nine from Antonia Gray and six from Demarcus Brooks.
Choctaw Central got 21 points from Jaric Anderson, 10 from Rodgrick Anderson and nine each from Martin and Sean Ahshapanek.

Morton 42
The Lady Tornadoes outscored Morton 34-23 over the middle quarters to improve to 10-2.
Philadelphia led 8-7 after one quarter before extending its lead to 30-21 by halftime. The Lady Tornadoes led 42-30 to start the fourth quarter.
Dominetrix Hunter led Philadelphia with 21 points. Ashley Lowery finished with 17 points. Shanese Hunter scored nine, and Natonya McWilliams added eight.
Morton got 15 points from Kenosha Bowie, 14 from Shaneese McLins and six from Jessica McLin.
Morton (boys) 59
Kosciusko 56
Morton scored the final 10 points of the game to defeat Kosciusko. The Whippets led the Panthers 56-49, but they were unable to score again as Morton improved to 7-5.
Shay Hodge scored 13 points in the second quarter to lead Morton with 24 points. Chris Lloyd finished with 14, and J.D. Ficklin added eight.
Kosciusko, 11-3, got 25 points from Derrick Huffman, 12 from Terry Levy and seven from Matthew Fields.
Williams-Sullivan (boys) 79
Scott Central 41
The Yellowjackets jumped out to a 50-22 halftime lead in routing the Rebels.
Williams-Sullivan got 19 points from Jimele Butler, 16 from Khentrell Horton, 10 from Geovani Williamson, nine from Marcello Greer and eight from Jontranez Johnson.
Scott Central, 11-2, got 10 points from Pierre Barlow and seven each from Dakari Murray and Kenneth Barlow.
