Mississippi State University-Meridian Campus will host several of the state's top educational leaders today for a summit that will reveal results of statewide education surveys.
The surveys are a part of the Mississippi Education Involvement initiative; the Meridian forum is one of nine throughout the state.
Dan Grafton, chief executive officer of Vertex Aerospace, will give the keynote speech. David Potter, the state's commissioner of higher education, will also speak at the forum.
Phil A. Sutphin, president of East Central Community College, said the educational surveys will be used to plan for the future of education in Mississippi.
The Meridian regional summit is co-sponsored by the Commission on the Future of East Mississippi and West Alabama. Financial support for the summit is provided by the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians.
Other sponsors include MSU-Meridian Campus, The University of West Alabama, East Central Community College, East Mississippi Community College, Jones County Junior College, Meridian Community College, area schools and The Montgomery Institute.
The day-long summit will be held in MSU-Meridian Campus' Khalmus Auditorium. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and the summit begins at 9 a.m. For more information, call (601) 635-2111.
