A convenience store worker was rushed to Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center today after he was shot by one of two gunmen who apparently were hiding in the store.
Detective Deano Harper, Meridian Police Department spokesman, would not name the worker or discuss the extent of his injuries. Hospital officials also declined to comment.
Harper, however, said the MPD is investigating a robbery and shooting at M &B Grocery, 1802 26th Ave., that happened when two employees were opening the store around 6:15 a.m. today.
Harper said the second worker was uninjured. He said the gunmen fled the store on foot.
Harper said the two suspected gunmen are black men, about 6 feet tall. One of the suspects weighs around 180 pounds and the other about 200 pounds, Harper said.
The MPD's Violent Crimes Unit is currently investigating the robbery and shooting.
Anyone who thinks they have any additional information should call CrimeStoppers at 485-1860.
