Benefit tourney set for Saturday

The first annual Alzheimer's Association Golf Tournament is set for Saturday and there is time to register.
Lakeview Golf Course will be the site of the 18-hole three-person scramble, open to golfers of all ages.
Bridwell became involved with the association after taking a job as assistant director at Silverleaf Manor an assisted living community for the elderly her grandfather also suffers from the disease.
The tournament is another way to bring awareness to the community about alzheimers in addition to the annual Alzheimers' Memory Loss Walk held each year in October.
All who participate in the tournament will receive a free t-shirt, and breakfast and lunch will be provided. Prizes will be awarded in several categories and include dinner for two at four Meridian restaurants: O'Charley's, D.T. Grinders Restaurant &Pub, Outback Steakhouse and Calla Grill.
A few important facts about Alzheimer's are:
88 percent of the money raised stays in the state of Mississippi to provided support and education.
48,000 people in Mississippi suffer from the disease.
Average caregivers will spend their life savings to care for a parent with this disease.
