Lauderdale County School Superintendent David Little will receive a 4 percent pay raise as part of a $39 million budget approved Thursday by the county school board.
Little's salary will increase to $71,266 from $68,525, retroactive to July 1, the start of the school district's fiscal year. Little will also receive $1,000 from the state of Mississippi for having served 25 years in the school district, bringing his total salary to $72,266, said Charlotte Parker, the school district's chief financial officer.
The majority of the budget, 57 percent, is earmarked for teachers' salaries.
The board unanimously approved the budget without discussion. Discussion took place in June, Parker said, with the public given the opportunity to make comments at that time.
