Rockets complete sweep of Philly

PHILADELPHIAThe Neshoba Central Rockets whipped the Philadelphia Tornadoes Friday afternoon here at Burnside Park. The Rockets took the decision 17-4.
The Rockets struck first with a two-run home run by Wes Turner to start things off for Neshoba Central. Jacob Townsend later crossed the plate for the Rockets to make the score 3-0.
Philadelphia was not bothered as the Tornadoes bounced back with three runs of its own to knot the score at 3-3.
The fourth inning proved to be fatal for the Tornadoes as Neshoba Central dropped seven runs on the homestanding Tornadoes to pace themselves to a 10-3 lead after four innings.
The Tornadoes' final run came from the bat of Tyler Rounsaville. Rounsaville ripped a homer off Jud Byars to cut the lead to 10-4.
The Rockets picked up three more runs in the fifth inning when Andy Smith, Cody Morrow and Turner crossed the plate to put Neshoba Central up 13-4.
Neshoba Central sealed the decision in the fifth inning by scoring four runs on four hits to sweep Philadelphia for the year.
Byars took the win for the Rockets, while Jonathan Booker suffered the loss.
The 13-5 Rockets were led by Taylor Petty at the plate, as he was 4-for-5 on the day. Turner was 3-for-5 on the day.
Philadelphia was led by Rounsaville with a homer and a single.
Neshoba Central will host No. 1 New Hope on Tuesday in a contest for the lead in Division 2-4A, while the Tornadoes travel to Heidelberg for a Division 5-3A match-up.
