    MMA to hold 2001 Art Auction
    The Meridian Museum of Art will have its 2001 art auction at Union Station on Nov. 3.
    The event will feature a gourmet dinner, cocktails, live music by Carey Smith and door prizes from local merchants. The auction will include more than 60 items.
    Tickets for the auction can by purchased individually or by tables of eight at $50 a person. Proceeds benefit Meridian Museum of Art. For information, call 693-1501.
    Laurel to hold Main Street Festival
    The city of Laurel will hold the sixth annual Main Street Festival from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Nov. 3 in downtown Laurel.
    The festival will feature arts and crafts, food, a 5K race, a 1-mile fun run and activities for children. Also featured will be a "Best Pie Contest" and a "Low-Fat Cooking Contest."
    To enter the "Best Pie Contest" or "Low-Fat Cooking Contest," call Nancy Leader at 428-4921. For information about the race, contact Kerry Holifield at 428-6477.
    Causeyville VFD hosts A Day in the Country'
    The Causeyville Volunteer Fire Department will sponsor its annual "A Day in the Country" on Nov. 3.
    The event will feature a flea market, arts and crafts, quilting, a bake sale, barbecue plates and other food. Entertainment begins at 10 a.m. All proceeds will benefit the fire department.

    Heritage Day set for Nov. 3
    Heritage Day will be Nov. 3 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Kemper County Historical Museum.
    There will be outdoor music and active demonstrations of old-time crafts. Antique cars also will be on display.
    Barbecue sandwiches and Coke will be on sale for $5. All money raised will help maintain the Kemper County Museum.
    Coin and currency show set for Nov. 3
    The Capital City Coin and Currency Show, sponsored by the Greater Jackson Coin Clubs, will be from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Nov. 3 at the Clarion Hotel in Jackson.
    Admission is free and appraisals will be offered. Numismatic items may be bought, sold and traded.

    Seizure information symposium set for Nov. 6
    The Epilepsy Foundation of Mississippi will host a seizure information symposium Nov. 6. The event will be from 5:30 p.m.-8 p.m. in the Meridian Room at Meridian Community College.

    Items wanted for MLT Variety Shop
    Donations are now being accepted for Meridian Little Theatre's Guild Fall Variety Shop. Donated items can include furniture, lamps, dishes, appliances, books and clothes.
    Items may be dropped off from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday-Friday. Pickup service is available for large loads and donations are tax-deductible.
    The sale will take place Nov. 9-10. For information, call Dorothy Torgerson at 482-0930 or MLT at 482-6371.
    Homemakers Arts &Crafts Show set for Nov. 3-4
    The 17th annual Homemakers Arts &Crafts Show and Sale is set for Nov. 3-4 at the Frank Cochran Center in Highland Park. The show will be open 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and noon-5 p.m. Sunday.
    Admission is 50 cents. Concessions with homemade soup, chili and other food will be available.
    Sta-Home Hospice hosts Clergy Day
    Sta-Home Hospice will sponsor a Clergy Day on Nov. 6 at Lakeview Worship Center. The center is at 3476 Lakeview Golf Course Road.

    Ralph Null to hold book-signing
    Ralph Null, well known for his southern garden style of design, will have a book signing from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Nov. 7 at Reflections of the Modern Garden.
    Null, the former director of the retail floral design program at Mississippi State University, will be signing his new book "Spring Arrangements from the Southern Garden."
    Null has exhibited and taught design classes in London, Cape Town, Sydney and Tokyo. His design presentations have been featured at the Smithsonian Institute, the Virginia Museum of Fine Art and the New Orleans Museum of Art.

    Information needed for book on veterans
    A book is being prepared on the history of Neshoba County veterans who served during World War II. Information needed includes pictures and brief stories of the men and women who served.

    Fund established for Kimberly Culpepper
    A fund to help pay Kimberly Culpepper's medical costs has been established at Citizens National Bank. The 19-year-old Chunky resident has spinal meningitis. Donations may be made at any Citizens branch.
