Belgreen girls win Christmas tourney

CHEROKEE — The Belgreen Lady Bulldogs defeated the Cherokee Lady Indians 57-48 last Thursday night to win the Jimmy PayneChristmas Tournament hosted by Cherokee.
The win marked the Lady Bulldogs’ sixth on the season.
Belgreen defeated the Phillips She-Bears 65-27 on Wednesday to advance to the final.
Nine Belgreen players scored in the victory, with Erica Smith leading the Lady Bulldogs in points with 26.
Hannah Taylor was also in double-digits with 11 points, while Bridget Thompson picked up 8.
Also scoring for Belgreen were Allyson Bragwell (6), Brooke Williams (5), Lauren Oliver (4), Haley Simmons (2), Bekkah Anderson (2) and Emma Riley (1).
The Lady Bulldogs downed the Cherokee Lady Indians in the championship match on Thursday night to take home the first place trophy.
Smith again led the team in points with 27, with Allyson Bragwell picking up 10.
Also scoring for Belgreen were Anderson (8), Oliver (6), Thompson (4) Taylor (2).
