Russellville’s city tree decked out for Christmas
RUSSELLVILLE — Volunteers recently gathered outside the Byars Building to decorate the city’s Christmas tree.
Cheri McCain, president of the Russellville Cultural Garden Club, said the club helps coordinate preparations for the tree each year. She said the project brings the community together and offers something cheerful for residents to enjoy downtown.
“It brings a lot of joy to our community,” McCain said. “We work along with the Street Department, and Shannon Wilson is wonderful to work with.”
McCain said she enjoys seeing families visit the tree throughout the season to take photos or stop for a closer look.
The tree will be lit at the end of the “Every Light a Prayer for Peace” ceremony, scheduled for Thursday at 5:30 p.m. on the courthouse steps. McCain said seeing the community gather for the countdown is one of her favorite moments of the year.
“Seeing everyone’s faces during the countdown always means so much,” she added.
