School ratings issued

MONTGOMERY — Russellville City Schools received an “A” on the 2024-25 state report cards released on Thursday, while the Franklin County Schools received a “B.”

The overall grade for Russellville City Schools grew by four points, moving from an 89 to 93.

Both elementary schools in the system achieved grades of 93 — an eight-point increase from their 2023-24 report card scores.

“This is a testament to the hard work that our teachers, faculty and students have put in,” Superintendent Tim Guinn said. “Anytime you have consistent success across the system, it really shows the impact that our teachers are making.”

Franklin County Schools increased one point in their overall districts score. Only two schools in Franklin County did not increase their score, but Superintendent Greg Hamilton noted there is “always room for improvement.”

Red Bay Elementary School and Tharptown High School had lower scores than a year ago.

“Five of our schools scored an ‘A,’” Hamilton said. “Franklin County is a rural district with a high poverty level. I think these scores say a lot for the hard work of many.”
