OBITUARIES FOR MONDAY, JAN. 1, 2001

LONA SMITH SHAMBURGER
Homemaker
Services for Lona Smith Shamburger will be held Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. at James F. Webb Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. R.E. Bonner officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
Mrs. Shamburger, 90, of Meridian, died Saturday, Dec. 30, 2000, in Meridian. She was a homemaker and a member of Hawkins United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.
Survivors include a daughter, Norma Rose and her husband, Buddy, of Meridian; a son, Cecil Shamburger Jr. of Gautier; four sisters, Willie Trayal, Thelma Sipkus, Ruth Webb and Louise Sellers, all of Meridian; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be today from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Joe Pat Lannon, Gary Webb, Stephen Smith, Odis Smith Jr., Lonnie Smith, David Paul Smith, Allen Smith and Jere Skelton.

Memorial services for Lara Cannon will be held at a later date with Barham Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Cannon, 86, of Marion, died Saturday, Dec. 30, 2000, in Marion.
Survivors include two sons, John S. Cannon of Okahumpka, Fla., and Capt. James R. Cannon, Orange Park, Fla.; a daughter, Janet Stenman of Meridian; a sister, Grace Day of Panama City, Fla.; and eight grandchildren.
GEORGE LOPER JR
UNION Services for George Loper Jr. will be held today at 2 p.m. at Milling Funeral Home chapel with the Revs. Warren Hedgepath and Tom Samson officiating. Burial will be in Golden Grove Cemetery.
Mr. Loper, 72, of Union, died Saturday, Dec. 30, 2000, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center in Meridian.
Survivors include a daughter, Denise Crotwell of Union; two sons, Rob Loper of Tylertown and George D. Loper of Olive Branch; four sisters, Ella Mae Thornton of Philadelphia, Ruth Massey of Pelahathie, Helen Callaway of Jackson and Ruby Shipley of Forest Grove, Ore.; a brother, Sammie Loper of Vicksburg; and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dell Loper, and a brother, Jerry Loper.
LINDSEY LOGAN

BUTLER, Ala. Services for Lindsey Logan will be held today at 10 a.m. with burial in Womack Hill Cemetery. Bumpers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Logan, 53, of Gilbertown, died Saturday, Dec. 30, 2000, at Riley Hospital in Meridian. He was a barber and machinist.
Survivors include a son, Thomas Keith Logan of Gilbertown; a stepson, Leslie Wayne Cheatham of Mobile; a daughter, Felicia Renee Logan of Gilbertown; a stepdaughter, Melanie Marie Stafford of Mobile; four brothers, Fred Logan and Jerald Logan, both of Gilbertown, Larry Eugene Logan of Theodore, and Johnny Logan of Mobile; three sisters, Judy Bolton of St. Elmo, Allie Mae Martin of Tuscaloosa, and Donna Curry of Gilbertown; four grandchildren and five step-grandchildren.
