Unemployment rises slightly
Gov. Robert Bentley announced recently that Alabama’s preliminary, seasonally adjusted June unemployment rate is 6.1 percent.
Franklin County’s unemployment rate for June exceeded the state average at 7 percent.
“Seasonal adjustments are typical for this time of the year. While we did see a slight uptick in unemployment, in Franklin County we are still seeing job growth, and there are employers looking for workers,” said Franklin County Development Authority Director Mitch Mays.
Mays added that according to the state figures, Franklin County is the lowest unemployment rate in Northwest Alabama.
