Retired United Methodist pastor, Mickey Ray Davis, died June 4, 2015, at Helen Keller Hospital in Sheffield after a battle with brain cancer. He was 67.

Bro. Mickey was a graduate of Phil Campbell High School, the University of North Alabama and Memphis Theological Seminary. He dedicated his life to serving as pastor to numerous churches throughout northwest Alabama. During his years as a pastor, he touched countless lives with his love, his laughter, and above all, his faith.

Much of his life revolved around music. Bro. Mickey was the morning announcer at WWWR radio station from 1973-1985. He was often asked to say the station call letters as no one could say them quite as well as he did.

Bro. Mickey was an accomplished musician performing with several local country and bluegrass groups. His vast knowledge of gospel and country music was evident as he served as master of ceremonies when gospel groups performed nearby. Also, he was an active member of the community in which he lived and was a member of the Civitan Club.

Bro. Mickey was born in Phil Campbell, and was preceded in death by his mother, Inez Bates Marks and step-father, Owen Bates.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Bates Davis; his son, Brad Davis and wife, Amanda, of Phoenix City; grandsons, Baker and James Beau Davis; aunt, Phyllis Martin Peppers; many cousins; and a host of friends.

Visitation was Saturday, June 6, 2015, with funeral following at Pinkard Funeral Home in Russellville. Rev. Mike Hendon and Rev. James McCullar officiated.

Pallbearers were Greg Peppers, Danny Peppers, Donny Mays, Jeffery Snyder, Chris Martinez and Dale Garrison.

Honorary bearers were Phillip Peppers, Randy Peppers, Jeff Peppers, Wayne Garrison and Fred Martinez.
