Tigers dominate All-SEC team
The 2010 All-Southeastern Conference Baseball Team has a distinct Auburn flavor as the Tigers placed four players on the first team – the most of any school in the SEC.
First baseman Hunter Morris, designated hitter Kevin Patterson and outfielders Trent Mummey and Brian Fletcher were all First Team selections. Morris was also named player of the year while Cory Luckie was named the Scholar Athlete of the Year.
Catcher Ryan Jenkins and pitcher Grant Dayton earned Second Team honors for Auburn while Mummey was also selected to the All-Defensive Team.
Alabama was the only other team in the SEC to place two players on the First Team — Shortstop Josh Rutledge and outfielder Taylor Dugas.
Alabama did not have any players on the Second Team, but the Crimson Tide’s Andrew Miller was named to the All-Freshman Team while third baseman Jake Smith was named to the All-Defensive Team.
Auburn led the SEC with six total players named to the First and Second Teams. Florida was second with five while Arkansas, LSU, and South Carolina had three players each.
Alabama, Ole Miss and Vanderbilt had two players each while Kentucky had one player.
Georgia, Mississippi State and Tennessee did not have any players named to the First or Second Team.
