Week set aside for cancer awareness

Purple is becoming the color of choice in Franklin County as excitement builds for Franklin County’s Relay For Life. With a little over a month to go before the annual event, purple bows are going up all over Franklin County to remind everyone about Relay for Life.
Mayor Troy Oliver declared this week as Power of Purple week in Russellville.
The Relay for Life Committee is asking all businesses and residents in Russellville display a purple ribbon this week to show support of the American Cancer Society and their efforts to raise money for programs, and cancer research.
Committee member Jolene Stockton said the bow can be purchase for $10 at the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce Office or by calling 332-0748 to place an order.
Committee Member Belinda Murray said Wednesday is ‘Wear Purple Day’ in Russellville.
The Relay for Life will be held Friday, May 7 at the RHS stadium with the survivor’s dinner on Tuesday, May 4 at First Baptist Church.
