Car show draws crowd to Sloss Lake

RUSSELLVILLE — Classic cars, motorcycles and community supporters gathered at Sloss Lake on Saturday as Kelley Dickinson VFW Post 5184 hosted its inaugural benefit car and bike show.

The event, held in partnership with American Legion Post 64 and its auxiliary, featured rows of classic cars and motorcycles, food trucks, prize drawings and a 50/50 raffle while raising support for veteran services in Franklin County.

Shown, back row from left are Brenda Oliver and Eric Reason, and in front Troy Oliver.

“We had a great turnout,” VFW Commander Randy Mancell said. “We’re going to do this annually.”

Mancell said organizers were encouraged by community support.

Tom Rogers, junior vice commander of Kelley Dickinson VFW Post 5184, said organizers created the event to honor veterans while also supporting the organization’s local efforts.

“We want to support all of our veterans and give them honor and recognition for their service,” Rogers said.
