Belgreen sweeps 6 opponents in softball

Belgreen won all six of its softball games last week, claiming two key wins over county rival Red Bay and one win over Phil Campbell.

Belgreen 5 Red Bay 3

Belgreen broke a 3-3 tie in the bottom of the fifth inning to go on to beat rival Red Bay 5-3. The Tigers outhit the Bulldogs 8-7 but Red Bay committed four fielding errors.

Jemma Moore went 3-for-4 with an RBI and scored a run. Bryn Scott scored two runs as well for Belgreen.

McKenna Young had a four-hit game for Red Bay.

Belgreen 11 Phil Campbell 1

Phil Campbell led Belgreen 1-0 through three and a half innings, then the Bulldogs ripped off 11 unanswered runs to beat the Bobcats 11-1.

MaKinley Vandiver had a big day at the plate with two hits, three RBIs, and two runs scored. Scott and Caleigh Lawson also had two hits each. Kendra Williams had three RBIs and a triple.

Zoey Blaxton got the win allowing one run on three hits and four strikeouts.

Belgreen 8 Red Bay 5

Belgreen defeated county-rival Red Bay 8-5 early in the week. Red Bay led 2-0 after three innings. Belgreen tied the game in the top of the fourth, but the Tigers reclaimed the lead in the bottom half of the inning 4-2. Red Bay extended its lead to 5-2 after five innings. Belgreen battled back to win the game by scoring two in the sixth and four in the seventh.

Mackinley Hogan led Belgreen with two hits, two RBIs and scored a run. Jemma doubled in two runs. Marlie Terry scored two runs.

Blaxton got the win for Belgreen pitching the final five and a third innings.

Belgreen 2 Sulligent 0

Belgreen scored two runs in the bottom of the second inning, and that was all they needed to beat the Blue Devils.

Scott and Williams had the run-scoring hits to propel the Bulldogs.

Blaxton got the shutout win for Belgreen, striking out six and allowing just three hits.

Belgreen 7 Elkmont 6

Belgreen battled back after trailing Elkmont to win 7-6. Belgreen took a 3-1 lead after one inning. Elkmont scored five in the top of the third to take a 6-3 lead, but the Bulldogs responded by scoring four in the bottom of the third to reclaim the lead for good.

Shaylyn Bryant had a hit, two RBIs and scored twice. Charley Hogan had two RBIs. Mackinley Hogan scored twice.

Belgreen 5 Falkville 4

Belgreen once again came from behind to snag a victory, this time over Falkville. Belgreen led 3-0 after four innings. Falkville took a 4-3 lead in the top of the fifth and Belgreen responded in the bottom half of the inning with two runs to win the game.

Scott had two hits, an RBI and scored a run. Blaxton had two hits and scored twice. Charley Hogan had two hits and scored a run.
