PC’s Bullington sets AHSAA record

PC’s Bullington sets AHSAA record

Phil Campbell’s Chaley Bullington set an AHSAA record with a 7for7 performance in a 2312 win over Red Bay. Bullington drove in six runs and scored five times to highlight a busy spring sports scheduled for Franklin County teams.

Monday baseball

Red Bay 14, Brooks 2: Red Bay used a pair of sixrun innings to snap Brooks’ fivegame winning streak with a 142 victory Monday.

Ayden Pruitt led the Tigers (94) with four RBIs. His tworun double highlighted one of the sixrun innings that gave Red Bay a 70 lead. Carson McGee finished with four runs scored.

Gunner Johnson and Andrew Edwards had the only hits for Brooks (125).

Waterloo 10, Tharptown 3: An eightrun first inning, sparked by five walks, two errors and two hits, helped the Cougars (46), who were dedicating their field to former coach Toby Dunn.

Levi Jones had three of Waterloo’s six hits and Ryan Benson scored twice. Chris Fretwell’s leadoff single in the second inning was the only hit for the Wildcats (39).

Lindsay Lane 24, Belgreen 8: An eightrun first inning and a 10run fifth inning carried Lindsay Lane. Rush Berryman and Noah Scott led the Bulldogs (96) with three RBIs each.

Monday softball

Belgreen 11, Phil Campbell 1: MaKinley Vandiver’s three RBIs and two runs scored led the Bulldogs (951), while Zoey Blaxton tossed a sixinning fivehitter. Tinlee Parker singled in Mckenzie Kratz in the third to give the Bobcats (614) a 10 lead.

Vina 15, Decatur Heritage 0: Kari Harper, who reached base four times, and Miley Panell scored three times each to pace the Red Devils (812). MiKayla Shotts gave up one hit and walked one in three innings before Lindie Easterling finished a fourinning onehitter.

Saturday softball

Lexington 9, Belgreen 7: Mattie Shook drove in three runs and Emry Ashley scored three times for the Golden Bears (64). Mackinley Hogan and Jemma Moore scored twice each for the Bulldogs (851).

Florence 8, Belgreen 4: Charlee Weatherford scored three runs and had two RBIs to power the Falcons (517). Ty Hampton threw a fiveinning threehitter. Marlie Terry knocked in two runs and Mackinley Hogan scored twice for the Bulldogs (841).

Phil Campbell 12, Tremont (Miss.) 1: Shiloh Madden tossed a fiveinning threehitter, while Chaley Bullington reached base four times and scored twice for the Bobcats (613).

Friday softball

Belgreen 7, Elkmont 6: A fourrun fourth inning carried the Bulldogs (831). Shaylyn Bryant hit a tworun homer and Charley Hogan added two RBIs. Makinley Hogan scored twice. Belgreen 5, Falkville 4: The Bulldogs (731) scored twice in the bottom of the fifth. Bryn Scott’s bunt single scored Zoey Blaxton with the tying run, and Jemma Moore provided the gamewinner with a double.

Belmont (Miss.) 10, Red Bay 3: Belmont scored nine runs in the first two innings. Mikayela Jackson led the Tigers (66) with two RBIs.

Thursday softball

Phil Campbell 23, Red Bay 12: Chaley Bullington set an AHSAA record with a 7forperformance that led the Bobcats (513). She drove in six runs and scored five times. The listed AHSAA record for a game is six hits, a feat reached five times, most recently by Holtville’s Bailey Boone, who was 6for6 in a 231 win over Greenville in 2024. Mikayela Jackson scored three runs for the Tigers (65), who recorded Bullington as going 6for7 with five RBIs. In the seventh inning, Bullington either singled in a run or reached on a fielder’s choice that led to a runscoring error that made it 2010.

Belgreen 2, Sulligent 0: Zoey Blaxton fired a threehitter for the Bulldogs (631), who scored twice in the second. Kendra Williams singled in MaKinley Vandiver and Bryn Scott singled home Blaxton. Blaxton walked none, struck out six and had just one runner reach scoring position.

Lawrence County (Ala.) 17, Russellville 1: Ticelee Gholston singled and scored on Khristyan Huerta’s single in the first for Russellville (77), which finished with three hits.

Saturday baseball

Belgreen 20, Colbert Heights 13: Colton Ashton scored five times, and Noah Scott had four RBIs to lead the Bulldogs (95). Gavin Caldwell knocked in three runs and Tucker Hodges scored three times for the Wildcats (411), who issued 15 walks.

Phil Campbell 4, Lamar County 2: Chandler Benford threw a fourhitter and scored twice to lead the Bobcats (97). He gave up one earned run with one walk and five strikeouts.

Shelby County 8, Red Bay 6: Landyn Lewey had two RBIs and Carson McGee scored twice for Red Bay (84).

Friday baseball

Springville 5, Red Bay 4: Jaxson Swann singled in two runs in a fourrun fifth, and final, inning for Red Bay (83). The Tigers had one hit and walk in the first four innings.

Russellville 116, Ardmore 2: Brayden Entrekin struck out 11 in four hitless innings in the opener for the Golden Tigers (612). A sevenrun fifth inning turned a 40 game into 110. The seven runs came on four singles, five walks and a balk. Tristan Ray had three hits and three RBIs for Russellville.

In the second game, Ray hit a tworun homer and added an RBI single to finish with three RBIs to lead the Golden Tigers. Tripp Cleveland and Brayden Hatton combined on a fourhitter with eight strikeouts.

Thursday baseball

Hamilton 13, Phil Campbell 5: Coley Gilstrap drove in five runs to lead the Aggies (105).

Houston Tibbs scored twice and drove in two runs. Isaac Duboise and Sage Morgan had two RBIs each for the Bobcats (87).

Belgreen 12, Colbert County 11: Braden Hamilton’s tworun double in the bottom of the eighth lifted Belgreen (85). Colton Ashton drove in three runs and scored three times. Grayson Owens scored three runs and drove in three for the Indians (26).

Covenant Christian 14, Vina 2: Derek Darby’s four RBIs led the Eagles (37), while Bradley Hamby finished with three RBIs. Chris Sparks had one RBI for Vina.

Mars Hill 20, Tharptown 2: Sam Spillers, Brooks Campbell and Cody Willis each hit tworun home runs for the Panthers (112). Chris Fretwell had one RBI for Tharptown (38).

Thursday girls soccer

Florence 8, Russellville 0: AR Tate notched three goals and two assists to lead the Falcons (73) over the Golden Tigers (68). Becca Beaver added a goal and two assists for Florence, while Joey Lane and Izzy Cassady had a goal and assist each.

Thursday boys tennis

Deshler 8, Russellville 1: Everette Minshew dropped only one game to win at No. 1 singles for Deshler. Josue Tomas won at No. 2 singles for Russellville.

Thursday girls tennis

Deshler 7, Russellville 2: Abigail Black won 104 in the third set to take down Lily Cate Pace, for Deshler. Josie Burcham provided Russellville’s lone singles win at No. 2.

Thursday golf

Lauderdale County wins trimatch: Cyler Parker shot 39 to lead Lauderdale County over Phil Campbell and Wilson at Joe Wheeler. The Tigers finished at 170, while Phil Campbell shot 194 and Wilson shot 211. In girls individual play, Lauderdale County’s Finley Springer shot 58 to claim medalist honors.

March 17 softball

Belgreen 8, Red Bay 5: Makinley Hogan scored twice and drove in two runs, while Jemma Moore added two RBIs for the Bulldogs (531), who scored six runs in the final two innings.Emma Blackburn and Hadley Griffin each reached base twice for the Tigers (64).

Colbert Heights 19, Phil Campbell 0: Autumn Willis went 3for5 with three runs and six RBIs and Eydie Keenum pitched a fiveinning nohitter to lead the Wildcats (111) past Phil Campbell (413). Addison Holcomb added two home runs and four RBIs.

Tharptown 10, Haleyville 9: Cadence Kennedy knocked in two runs for Tharptown (98), which sent the game to extra innings with a run in the top of the seventh and scored five runs in the eighth to take a 105 lead. Anna Gable led Haleyville (47) with a home run and three RBIs.

Hope Swims scored twice and drove in two. The Lions scored four times in the bottom of the eighth and had the potential tying and winning runs on base.

Russellville 2, West Point 1: Russellville pushed across the goahead run in the top of the eighth inning courtesy of two errors. Bri McCullough’s RBI triple in the third inning put the Golden Tigers (76) ahead.

Marion County 76, Vina 611: Olivia Crum drove in three runs and Vina (711) salvaged a doubleheader split. Kenzie Elrod scored three times in the second game and Vina scored nine times in the first inning. In the opener, Marion County scored three times in the seventh.

March 17 baseball

Russellville 5, Deshler 2: Jackson Smith took a shutout into the seventh inning to lead Russellville (412). Caleb Hawkins and Brayden Hatton each scored twice. George Youngblood homered in the seventh for Deshler (114), which had won 10 straight.

Haleyville 6, Red Bay 3: Gavin Brown homered to lead off the bottom of the first and Brody Armstrong took a shutout into the sixth for the Lions (37). Brown had two runs scored and two RBIs. Ayden Pruitt reached base twice for the Tigers (82).

Belgreen 19, Vina 1: Colton Ashton was 5for5 with three runs scored and two RBIs for the Bulldogs (75). Cayden Porter scored four times and Rush Berryman struck out 11 in a fiveinning twohitter. Branson Vick scored in the first for the Red Devils (47).

Hamilton 18, Phil Campbell 0: Houston Tibbs drove in six runs and Mason Holloway threw a fiveinning nohitter to lead the Aggies (95) over the Bobcats (86). Holloway walked two and struck out nine.

Mars Hill 18, Tharptown 0: Brooks Campbell struck out 13 in a fiveinning twohitter and had three RBIs for the Panthers (102). Beau Willis scored three times. Melvin Gutierrez singled for the Wildcats (37) to lead off the fourth and break up the nohitter.

March 17 boys tennis

Deshler 9, Priceville 0: The Tigers won three matches by default and did not drop a game in the other six.
Wilson 7, Russellville 2: James Mallette picked up a 64, 60 victory to lead Wilson.
