RHS softball loses 4 of 6

Russellville softball team loses four of six games played last week.

Austin High School visited on March 12 and the Lady Bears won 13-4. RHS had seven hits with Ticelee Gholston and Kaylee Suggs getting two hits each to lead Russellville. One of Suggs’ hits was a double and she had the team’s only RBI Taitum Bishop, Chloe James and Blevyn Sappington each had one hit.

Bishop and Suggs were the RHS pitchers.

Russellville then participated in the TimesDaily Tournament, which was played in Muscle Shoals on March 13-14.

The Golden Tigers lost to Deshler and Sulligent on day one of the tournament. Deshler defeated RHS 6-3 in a six-inning game. Gholston had three hits to lead Russellville. Alexia Groce, Khristyan Huerta and James hit home runs. Suggs was the RHS pitcher.

Sulligent then defeated Russellville by a score of 5-0. RHS had five hits but made six errors. Bri McCulloch, Gholston, Suggs, Huerta and James had the Russellville hits. Bishop and Suggs both saw action in the pitching circle.

RHS started the next day with an 11-0 win over Oakman in a five-inning game. McCulloch had three hits, including a double. Huerta and Sappington added two hits each while Bishop, Suggs and Sadie Odom also hit safely.

Suggs and Odom led the team with two RBIs each. Bishop got the win in the pitching circle allowing only three hits.

Brooks then defeated Russellville 6-4 in another five-inning contest. RHS got hits from Gholston, Bishop, Huerta and Odom. Russellville’s RBIs came from Bishop, Groce and Huerta. Suggs was Russellville’s pitcher.

Russellville finished the week with a 10-0 win over Clements in five innings to improve the Lady Golden Tigers’ record to 6-6. Sappington had three hits, including two doubles. McCulloch and Groce had two hits each while Gholston, Suggs, Huerta and Bishop had one hit apiece.
