Red Bay Tigers pick up 3 wins
The Red Bay Tigers captured three wins last week, two of them in tight scoring games, and Belgreen continued to be impressive with a pair of victories.
Red Bay 9 Hatton 7
Red Bay squeaked out a 9-7 win over Hatton despite being outhit 11-6 by the Hornets.
Jeremiah Thorne had a great game (and a great week) for the Tigers with two doubles, two RBIs and scored a run. Thorne’s stat line for the week included seven hits, including four doubles, six RBIs, five runs scored. He also pitched a complete game for Red Bay striking out 10.
Jaxson Swann and Carson McGee both scored twice.
Red Bay 12 Sheffield 0
Landyn Lewey pitched a no-hitter to beat Sheffield 12-0. Lewey struck out five and walked only two.
Thorne had two doubles, a single, two RBIs and scored three runs. McGee and Riley Carpenter scored two runs each.
Red Bay 8 Heritage
7 Red Bay built up a 5-0 lead over Decatur Heritage only to see the Eagles chip away by scoring seven unanswered runs to take a 7-5 lead by the end of the fourth inning. The Tigers clawed their way back, scoring one run in the fifth and two in the sixth to reclaim the lead and get the win.
Thorne had three hits, two RBIs and scored twice. Carpenter had two hits. Ayden Pruitt singled and doubled. Lewey scored twice.
The Tigers sent four pitchers to the mound to battle Decatur Heritage. Khalil Luster started the game followed by Landon Petree. Pruitt got the win and McGee got the save.
Belgreen 6 Carbon Hill 1
Ty Hamilton pitched a gem to help Belgreen beat Carbon Hill in the “Battle of the Bulldogs.” Hamilton threw a complete game allowing just one run on five hits, walking one and striking out five. The sophomore also had a single and two RBIs at the plate.
Noah Scott doubled in a run. Easton Mitchell had a single and two RBIs.
Belgreen scored three runs in the first and three in the fifth despite only getting four hits in the game.
Belgreen 8 Colbert Heights 3
Belgreen built up a 6-1 lead by the end of the third inning and cruised to the win. The Bulldogs pounded out seven hits.
Scott had a single, double and three RBIs. Braden Hamilton singled in two runs and scored a run. Colton Ashton singled in a run and scored twice.
Braden Hamilton got the win allowing three runs on five hits and striking out ten. Ashton got the save.
Phil Campbell 14 Sulligent 4
Phil Campbell bested Sulligent 14-4 with a combination of hot bats for the Bobcats and cold gloves for the Blue Devils. Phil Campbell had eight hits while Sulligent committed five errors.
Isaac Duboise had a single, three RBIs and scored twice. Chandler Benford scored three runs. Cody Sneed had two hits, two RBIs, and scored a run.
The Bobcats pitching was also stellar allowing just one hit. Phil Campbell sent four pitchers to the mound. Sage Morgan started and got the win striking out six. Eli Tyra, Reed Jackson, and Shooter Motes all saw action as pitchers.
