Belgreen, Red Bay win 2 in softball
Belgreen and Red Bay’s softball teams each won a pair of games last week, while Phil Campbell and Vina split their contests.
Belgreen 5,
Shoals Christian 1
The Bulldogs led Shoals Christian 5-0 before the Flame got on the board in the bottom of the fourth inning. Jemma Moore and Mackinley Hogan both doubled in the game. Moore had two RBIs and Hogan scored a run. Bryn Scott scored three times for Belgreen.
Zoey Blaxton got the win in the circle allowing one run on three hits and struck out five.
Belgreen 15,
Vina 0
Belgreen scored 15 runs on 12 hits. Most of the production came from the middle of the Bulldogs lineup. Moore and Charley Hogan both had two hits and scored three times. Hogan had two RBIs. Kendra Williams had two hits, four RBIs and scored a run. Blaxton had two hits, three RBIs and scored twice.
Moore got the win, allowing no runs and just one hit.
Phil Campbell 11,
Sheffield 0
Phil Campbell picked up its first area win of the season beating Sheffield 11-0. The Bobcats scored six in the second and four in the third enroute to the shutout.
Georgia Motes had a single, a double, three RBIs and scored a run. Madison Baker had two hits, two RBIs and scored twice. Bella Welch had three hits and scored a run. Chaley Bullington had a single, two RBIs and scored.
Addie James got the win in the circle allowing just two hits, no runs and struck out six.
Red Bay 16,
Tremont 0
Red Bay scored 16 runs on just seven hits but took advantage of five Tremont errors to win 16-0. The Tigers jumped out to a 12-0 lead in the first inning and scored four more in the second.
The Tigers hit two doubles, had three RBIs and two runs scored by Gracie Edgmon. Emma Blackburn had a single, double and three RBIs.
Charlie Lindley got the shutout win, allowing just two hits and striking out five.
Red Bay 3,
Decatur Heritage 2
Decatur Heritage scored two runs in the top of the first inning. Red Bay chipped away at the Eagles’ lead, scoring one run in each of the first, third, and fourth innings to capture the win.
McKenna Young, Kyla Blackburn and Lexie Medina all crossed the plate for Red Bay.
Lindley got the complete game win striking out nine.
Vina 15,
Phil Campbell 3
Vina jumped out to a 15-0 lead before Phil Campbell could even get on the scoreboard as the Red Devils routed the Bobcats 15-3.
Vina outhit Phil Campbell 6-4, but the Bobcats committed five errors in the field and walked nine.
Kenzie Elrod scored three times for Vina. Braxtyn Quinn and Miley Panell scored twice.
MiKayla Shotts got the win in the circle allowing three late hits on four hits and struck out five.
