Area tournament play begins on Thursday

Postseason basketball begins this week with area tournament action. All county teams will play this week. Teams who make the finals will automatically advance to subregion play next week. The area winners will host subregion games while the area runners-up will travel.

Here is the schedule of games this week that involve or potentially involve Franklin County teams.

Thursday, Feb. 5

Girls- (1A-15) Vina vs. Phillips at Marion County at 5pm Girls- (2A-14) Covenant Christian at Tharptown at 5pm Girls- (2A-10) Lamar County at Red Bay at 6pm Boys- (1A-15) Brilliant vs. Vina at Marion County at 6:30pm Boys- (2A-14) Belgreen at Tharptown at 6:30pm

Friday, Feb. 6

Girls- (1A-13) Vina/ Phillips vs. Marion County at Marion County at 3pm Boys- (1A-13) Vina/ Brilliant vs. Marion County at Marion County at 4:30pm Girls-(5A-15)Lawrence County at Russellville (5A-15) at 6pm Girls- (2A-14) Finals at Belgreen vs. Covenant/ Tharptown at 6pm Girls- (3A-15) Phil Campbell vs. Sheffield at Mars Hill (3A-15) at 7:30pm

Saturday, Feb. 7
