2 garbage trucks to cost $604,730

RUSSELLVILLE — City council members have unanimously approved the purchase of two new garbage trucks.

Council members authorized the purchase of two Heil ASL garbage trucks on Freightliner Chassis at a total cost of $604,730, according to City Clerk Belinda Miller.

The city was able to purchase the trucks due to a resolution which was also adopted declaring a spare garbage truck and a 2021 garbage truck as surplus items.

A Heil ASL garbage truck is an automated side loader that uses a mechanical arm to lift and empty trash carts from the curb. Miller said the cost is typical for trucks of this quality.

The new trucks will not change how residents should place their trash for collection, Miller said.
