Warming stations in the Shoals

FLORENCE — Several warming centers and emergency shelters are operating across Lauderdale, Colbert and Franklin counties in preparation for freezing temperatures.

Hours and services may change based on weather conditions, capacity and emergency guidance.

Here is the list of those shelters so far:

Lauderdale County

Shoals Shelter (Overnight and Daytime)

  • Intake location: The Help Center, 621 S. Court St., Florence
  • Intake time: 4:30–5:30 p.m. on shelter nights
  • Transportation: Guests are transported to a partner church
  • Night shelter: Open nightly Jan. 21–29
  • Day shelter: Open Friday night through Sunday evening during the storm
  • Weekend policy: Intake available Friday only; guests remain through Sunday
  • Services: Meals and overnight shelter provided

Salvation Army of the Shoals (Overnight)

  • Address: 1601 Huntsville Road, Florence
  • Check-in: Begins at 5 p.m.
  • Services: Meal and overnight shelter
  • Availability: Open seven nights a week
  • Phone: 256-764-4432

Southern Legacy Assembly (Daytime Only)

  • Address: 116 S. Royal Ave., Florence
  • Services: Daytime warming center
  • Dates: Open Jan. 24–25
  • Home Free Haven (Overnight)
  • Pickup: Southern Legacy Assembly at 4:15 p.m.
  • Location: 621 S. Court St., Florence
  • Services: Overnight shelter
  • Phone: Call or text 256-284-2487

Colbert County

Cherokee Community Shelter

  • Address: 1121 2nd St., Cherokee
  • Services: Day and night warming center; cots and blankets available
  • Availability: Open until temperatures rise above freezing

Leighton Community Shelter

  • Address: 8856 Main St., Leighton
  • Services: Day and night shelter
  • Availability: Open until temperatures rise above freezing

Ford City Shelter

  • Address: 14439 Co. Line Road, Muscle Shoals

York Bluff Baptist Church

  • Address: 301 N. Atlanta Ave., Sheffield
  • Status: Hours and opening determined by EMS guidance. May open as early as Friday night

One Heart Church

  • Address: 719 Michigan Ave., Muscle Shoals
  • Dates: Jan. 23 at 2 p.m. through Sunday morning
  • Services: Food, water, showers, washer and dryer available Friday

Franklin County

Littleville Shelter

  • Address: 1450 Jackson Hwy., Russellville

Vina Fire and Rescue

  • Address: 79 Church St., Vina
  • Dates: Opens Friday, Jan. 23 at 6 p.m. through Wednesday morning, Jan. 28
