Russellville teams sweep games with Belgreen

Russellville hosted the Belgreen Bulldogs on Dec. 9 and the Golden Tigers got wins in both games.

In the boys game, Russellville got the win by a 62-23 final score.

RHS led 15-3 at the end of the first quarter and went into the halftime break ahead by 32-14. Russellville outscored BHS 15-2 during the fourth quarter.

Russellville got scoring from 10 players during the victory. Malaki Groce led the team with 20 points. Sir Williams added nine, and Tripp Cleveland scored seven. Daniel Aycock, Conner Vincent and Noah Smith had five points each, and Parker Odom added four. Gavin McDaniel had three points, while Braxton Duncan and Shawn Taylor scored two points apiece.

Belgreen was led in scoring by Jonathan Mendoza with eight points. Jake Dill scored six, Chris Bentley had four points, and Rush Berryman added three. Parker Morgan and Jaxon Wood each had one point.

Russellville’s girls earned a 62-47 victory over the Lady Bulldogs. RHS finished the first quarter with a 19-9 advantage, and the Lady Tigers were ahead 51-25 after three quarters of action.

Ella Copeland of RHS led all scorers with 25 points. Laila Hill had 17 points and Angeleah Smith added 11. Sadie Odom, Elizabeth Davis and Alexia Groce contributed three points each.

Randi Terry led Belgreen with 11 points. Mckenna Fisher added nine and Jemma Moore scored seven. Isabella Tate and Carson Hovater had five points apiece, and Marlie Terry scored four. Mackinley Hogan and Alayna Tate finished the game with three points each.

The Russellville girls defeated Sulligent on Dec. 13 by a score of 51-46 to improve to 7-5 on the season. RHS trailed by two points at the half, but battled back to get the victory.

Copeland led Russellville with 25 points. Hill added 13 and Smith had nine points. Sadie Odom scored three and Groce had one point.
