Cattlemen’s association donates beef to schools

The Franklin County Cattlemen’s Association donated 400 pounds of beef to support Family and Consumer Science programs across the county.

Each participating program received about 100 pounds to use for classroom lessons and cooking projects throughout the year.

Board member Caleb Beason said the group has been making annual donations for around 15 years.

“The goal is to help students understand both the ‘pasture to plate’ story and proper cooking techniques,” Beason said. “We appreciate the teachers who take time to share the beef story with their students.”

Phil Campbell FACS teacher Aleah Harris said the contribution is an important part of her program’s hands-on learning.

“The annual beef donation is a staple that all of our Family and Consumer Science programs rely on,” Harris said. “The generous donation allows us to incorporate many recipes and cooking projects.”
