Red Bay routs Tharptown 53-0 for Homecoming

The Red Bay Tigers gave their home crowd plenty to cheer about on Homecoming night, delivering a dominant performance in a 53-0 rout of the Tharptown Wildcats.

The Tigers’ offense was explosive, the defense was suffocating, and special teams were special, leading to a shutout victory that showcased the team’s depth and speed.

The night belonged to the “Jaxons” early on as the Tigers quickly jumped out to a lead.

Running back Jaxon Vinson set the tone with an electrifying 70-yard touchdown run to open the scoring. Moments later, the special teams delivered a huge play when Jaxon Swann fielded a punt and racing 60 yards through the Tharptown coverage for a touchdown.

Not to be outdone, Vinson followed up his earlier heroics with another long-distance score, finding the endzone from 67 yards out. He finished the night with 137 yards and two touchdowns while carrying the ball just three times.

The scoring frenzy continued as quarterback Jeremiah Thorn (who finished a perfect 2-for-2 for 60 yards) connected with Davien Colburn on a 50-yard touchdown pass. Colburn’s one reception was a memorable one, going the distance for the score.

The second half saw Red Bay’s ground game continue to chew up yardage. Joshua Thorn powered his way to a 36-yard touchdown run, followed by a 9-yard touchdown run by Sawyer Humphries.

Even the special teams got back in the action when Kayden Hargett took a punt back 40 yards, setting up another drive. The scoring was capped off with a final 9-yard touchdown run by Andre Brownlee, sealing the 53-0 victory.

Red Bay ended the night with 375 yards in total offense.

The Tigers look poised to carry this momentum into the rest of their season, beginning with a road trip to Decatur Heritage on Friday night.
