October 11 – Clothes Giveaway, Isbell Methodist Church: Isbell Methodist Church will hold a free clothes giveaway Saturday, Oct. 11, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will include winter clothes, jackets and blankets for those in need.
Oct. 11 – Spirit of Hodges – The annual Spirit of Hodges festival takes place in the town park in Hodges. For information, call 205-935-3445.
October 18 – Second Chance Canine Advocates meeting: Second Chance Canine Advocates, a nonprofit organization dedicated to animal welfare, will hold its monthly meeting Saturday, Oct. 18, at 10 a.m. at the Ralph C. Bishop Community Center, 201 Ash Ave., Russellville.
The meeting will include a program by Susan Simmons on properly fitting a dog with a collar, using a slip lead, securing pets in vehicles, and selecting the correct harness size.
The public is invited to attend. The event offers a chance to learn more about pet care, fostering and volunteer opportunities with the organization.
Oct. 18 – Spruce Pine Day – Scheduled music lineup includes Theresa Shuman and James Taylor, JT Music Factory, from 9 a.m. to 9:45 a.m.; Noah Carter from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., Grace Town and Tera Sherrill from 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.; music break from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.; The Parrish Boys (Landon Parrish, Elizabeth Parrish and Steven Parrish) from 1:15 until to be determined. Times may vary. Spruce Pine Day T-shirts will be available. There is a gun raffle for a Henry 45-70. Tickets are $10 each. No more than 300 tickets will be sold. Oct. 31 – Fifth Friday: Downtown Russellville presents its third Fifth Friday event with a tobe- determined “thriller” theme from 6 to 9 p.m.
Nov. 4, 6, 9 – Play, “You Can’t Beat the House,” Red Bay – The Bay Tree Council for the Performing Arts will perform its next comedy, “You Can’t Beat the House,” Nov. 4, Nov. 6 and Nov. 9 at the Weatherford Centre in Red Bay. The play will be directed by Holly McKinney and Scotty Kennedy.
