RHS extends win streak to 4 games

The Golden Tigers had a successful week on the varsity baseball diamond going undefeated in four games. With the wins, RHS is now 7-3 on the season.

Russellville 4, East Limestone 2
The Golden Tigers went to East Limestone on Feb. 25 and defeated the Class 5A Indians in a non-area game.

RHS scored single runs during innings three through six. Russellville outhit its opponent 6-3.

Caleb Hawkins went 3-for-3 with a home run and two doubles. Hawkins had two RBI and scored two runs. Ty Willis added two hits and a RBI, and Brennon Thorpe smacked a double for the Golden Tigers. Tripp Cleveland also picked up a RBI.

Ty Engelthaler was the winner on the mound. The right hander went all seven innings and allowed only three hits. The RHS pitcher struck out eight and walked two batters.

Russellville 15, Hamilton 5
The Class 4A Hamilton Aggies visited Russellville on Feb. 27 and the Golden Tigers got the victory in six innings.

RHS used six pitchers, each working one inning. Hawkins got the start on the mound, and he was followed by Willis, Coltan Oliver, Brayden Hatton, Jackson Smith and Brayden Entrekin.

Tristan Ray had two hits for Russellville. Entrekin, Willis, Cleveland, Hawkins, Hatton, Cooper and Oliver also hit safely. Willis and Entrekin led the team with three RBI each.

Russellville 3, Itawamba Agricultural 0
The Golden Tigers handed the Itawamba Indians their first loss of the season Saturday at RHS.

Entrekin pitched a complete game and allowed only three hits. The young left-hander struck out nine and did not walk a batter.

Engelthaler and Hatton picked up a RBI each. Russellville hits were by Entrekin, Thorpe, Cooper and Engelthaler.

Russellville 12, James Clemens 11
The Golden Tigers stunned the Class 7A Jets with a comeback win on Saturday. RHS trailed 7-0 going into the bottom half of the second inning, and Russellville was behind 11-3 when the Golden Tigers came to bat in the home half of the fifth.

Entrekin had three hits, including a double and four RBI, to lead Russellville at the plate. Engelthaler added three hits and one RBI. Willis, Hawkins, Cleveland and Thorpe had two hits each.

Joining Entrekin and Engelthaler in the RBI column were Willis, Cleveland, Thorpe, Cooper and Ray.
